Area Rugs Designers Love

Picking an area rug can be like picking a favorite star in the sky. The colors, textures, and designs are endless. Wouldn’t you love to have a list of beautiful fool-proof rugs that will look great in any space? Ask and you shall receive.

There are a few things to keep in mind before purchasing a rug, however. One is sizing! We’ll share a how-to guide on that soon. The second is to be mindful of where the rug will go, and who will be around it (i.e. high traffic area, pets, kids, dining room). My go-to for durability is a polyester power-loomed rug. Many of the rugs listed below fit in this category. They’re easy to clean—believe me, I pulled slime out of one not too long ago. Adding a rug pad underneath is always a good idea as well. It helps protect your flooring, and can actually make it easier to vacuum.

If you’re ready for a pattern in your space—go for it! Patterns and textures can be layered and multiplied. I like to let the rug be the “star of the show” and any other patterns or prints in the space are going to compliment it. If patterns aren’t your thing, opt for a neutral rug with minimal pattern.
