What to Gift Your Daughter-In-Law for Christmas

What to gift your daughter-in-law

Shopping for family members can sometimes be tricky. For your children, maybe your son, you can probably shop for him in your sleep. But, what do you get for his wife? Do you have a new daughter-in-law this Christmas? Or, maybe it’s been hard to pinpoint your daughter-in-law’s style over the years.

Don’t fret this Christmas. We’ve got you covered.

First, put yourself in her shoes for just a hot minute. What were you up to when you were her age? You probably were running ragged chasing kids, getting little sleep, balancing work, a home, and many responsibilities. There probably wasn’t much time left for you at the end of the day. Am I right?

So much is focused on the children and not so much on the mom in this season of life. As you’re thinking about gifts, think about her. What is it that would bring her joy? As a mother of two small children, a business owner, and all that comes with it, my initial answer is a nap. But we can’t necessarily put that under the Christmas tree.

Rest and rejuvenation are the love languages for a busy mom. Go-to ideas are manicures, pedicures, facials, or a massage—something to help her feel less like a hobo at least for one day.

Like most moms, my days are spent wiping noses, serving up PB&J sandwiches, and dodging bubbles during bath time. As much as I love these moments, I also love daydreaming about hosting grown-up get-togethers. One thing I’ve worked to build for myself is my collection of “fancy” dinnerware. I’ve inherited a few pieces, but there’s more that I want to add to my collection.

Let’s look at your daughter-in-law’s home. I guarantee if there’s extra cash in the budget, she’s likely to buy something for her kids than herself. And if she’s also daydreaming of fancy dinner parties, she might be wishing she had a few nicer pieces to use other than Paw Patrol melamine plates.

Charcuterie boards are all the rage—that’s why we love our Margo Charcuterie Board. This show-stopping serving piece brings the best of both white marble and rich tones of mango wood.

Instead of sippy cups, add a set of our Marjorie Embossed Drinking Glasses to her cupboard.

To keep her kitchen organized, or create a stylish caddie for her dining table, the Brantley Decorative Wood Trayblends with a variety of décor styles.

And, you can’t go wrong with classic white stoneware. Williams Sonoma always serves up the perfect dose of sophistication. Their Pantry Oval Serving Platter is a great addition to any collection, regardless of style or theme.

When it comes to gift-giving this Christmas, look for items that your recipient would probably never buy for themselves but would love to have. Go ahead and spoil her a little bit, too. After all, she gave you those adorable grandchildren.
